About Take Profit Trader

Take Profit Trader (TPT) is a U.S.-based futures prop trading firm with more than 90,000 active traders that offers funded trading accounts, with traders passing a one-step evaluation before accessing capital. TPT supports over 15 trading platforms and processes payouts daily, with profit splits of up to 90%. The firm serves a global user base and works exclusively with brokers regulated by the National Futures Association (NFA) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).

The Challenge

TPT’s biggest fraud risk was multi-accounting. The prop trading model creates a natural incentive for abuse; if one funded account is profitable, running dozens or hundreds under different identities multiplies the return. Some users were doing exactly that, creating large networks of accounts designed to look unrelated on the surface, with different names, different emails and different registration details. Without visibility into what was happening at the device and network level, these operations stayed hidden.

TPT also needed to enforce geographic restrictions. Regulatory obligations limit trading activity in certain jurisdictions, and while IP-based checks offered a starting point, they were easy to get around with VPNs and proxies. Reliable location enforcement required deeper signals.

As its user base grew, the manual effort required to investigate suspicious accounts, enforce restrictions and maintain consistent decisions was becoming unsustainable. The team needed a way to surface hidden connections, act on them faster and eventually automate enforcement at the point of registration.

What Changed


TPT selected SEON for its device fingerprinting depth, its flexibility across rule configuration and the ability to integrate directly into registration and account workflows through a single API.

Uncovering hidden account networks

Device fingerprinting gave TPT visibility it previously lacked. SEON identified several significant networks that had been operating undetected, each managing a large number of accounts. In some cases, investigations revealed coordinated operations involving thousands of accounts that looked completely independent based on registration data alone.

SEON also surfaced a considerable number of smaller clusters through device-level connections. Accounts that appeared unrelated turned out to share devices, network signals or behavioral patterns that tied them together. Many of these have already been blocked.

Stronger geolocation enforcement

Rather than relying solely on IP addresses, SEON combined IP data with device-level signals captured through fingerprinting. This gave TPT a more accurate picture of where users were actually connecting from, making it harder for someone in a restricted jurisdiction to mask their location with a VPN or proxy.

Hands-on investigation and rule building

SEON and TPT run regular investigation sessions together, where they surface and analyze fraud rings, connected accounts and mass registrations. When a pattern is identified, the team designs rules to catch it going forward. The work covers both reactive investigations, addressing fraud that is already happening, and proactive detection, looking at broader signals and suspicious patterns before they become a problem.

Multi-accounting rules use shared device signals and network-level connections to identify coordinated activity at scale. Geolocation rules draw on both IP data and device fingerprinting, with conditions built to account for legitimate triggers such as corporate VPNs or mobile carrier IP routing.

Every rule goes through a backtesting process against historical data before going live, so the team can assess the expected impact on both fraud detection and false positive rates. Once TPT’s feedback loop is fully active, backtesting will run on a regular cycle to make sure every decision is grounded in data.

Scaling toward full automation

SEON’s Managed Risk Services (MRS) team works closely with TPT through regular syncs covering decisions, planning and roadmap. Together, they have designed the integration across every user touchpoint where fraud checks run, defined what data to send at each stage and determined where and how decisions are made.

SEON’s Label API tracks the accuracy of every decision and feeds it back into the system, so the rules continuously improve. TPT tracks how well its rules perform and fine-tunes them on an ongoing basis, catching more fraud while keeping friction low for legitimate traders.

As live decisioning expands to cover registration, much of the blocking that currently requires manual action will happen automatically through SEON’s decisioning engine, further reducing the team’s workload and speeding up enforcement across the platform.

Results

The financial impact was immediate. SEON’s data helped TPT identify and block account networks that made up approximately five percent of their total user base, causing major damage to TPT’s profitability Device fingerprinting has given the team a level of visibility into coordinated abuse that it did not have before. Geolocation enforcement is now based on deeper signals, making it harder for users in restricted jurisdictions to bypass controls.

The platform is progressively automating decisioning at registration, reducing manual review time and allowing the team to scale fraud enforcement alongside business growth. Rules are backtested before deployment and continuously refined through the feedback loop.
